Buffer cooling

When the full free air cooling is not possible (8% of the time) we need to cool the datacenter in another way. Of these 8%, 6% are short periods of time (i.e. two or three heat hours a day).

In these cases we use a water buffer of 4000m³ located in the basement. The buffer is shaped in a way the water needs to loop in a 500m circuit before being reused. This natural way of cooling the water is -in most circumstances- enough to provide sufficient cooling.
